Paramita Bera, A warrior
In 2016, we discovered Paramita Bera when she had come to Kolkata for her treatment in a city hospital. Though she was brutally burnt by an acid attack that occurred in an interior village in South Bengal, she did not give up the fight. We introduced her amazing story in the mainstream media, producing music shows on her, pitching her story to different stakeholders. We mobilized different stakeholders and donors to raise funds for her to continue her expensive skin grafting surgeries. She continues her post-graduation at Jadavpur University. Later, she has become a youth anchor in All India Radio, Kolkata station. One of the leading Bengali TV Channel 24 Ghanta produced a special episode on her, showing her struggle after the attack. In 2019, she received a bravery award ' 'Zee Ananya Samman' from the same TV channel group.
